After having suffered a 25-point loss three weeks previous to Georgetown, the Scarlet Knights were in desperate need of some hope. Br. Ken Apuzzo, chaplain to the Rutgers basketball team chose to speak to the team with a passage from Scripture. Players from the team said it was what they needed to make the upset win. “Brother Ken’s passage from the Bible was about Jesus defending his home,” Rutgers co-captain Jonathan Mitchell said. “We just wanted to defend the RAC today.” When asked about the inspiration from Br. Ken, Rutgers coach Fred Hill said in a quiet moment after the game, “It was a very appropriate message. Basically that if this is your house, you have to defend it.”
